Lawyers of the decade: Steve Farber

Posted on 06. Jul, 2011 in In The News, On the List

Congratulations to Steve Farber, our founder and chairman of the board, for being selected as one of Law Week Colorado‘s Lawyers of the Decade!

From Law Week Colorado‘s “Lawyers of the Decade” article, March 14, 2011:

“Farber used a personal hardship as a springboard for service to others. In 2003, doctors told him he needed a kidney transplant. After a year searching for a donor, his son Gregg proved to be a match and donated one of his own. The experience led Farber write a book, On the List: Fixing America’s Failing Organ Transplant System. He also founded the nonprofit American Transplant Foundation to raise awareness of organ donation.”

We would like to thank Steve for his continued commitment to the American Transplant Foundation and organ and tissue donation.

Team Transplant Rides the 2011 Subaru Elephant Rock

Posted on 06. Jun, 2011 in Events, Past Events, Photos, Team Transplant

We had a fantastic time on Sunday, June 5th as 101 Team Transplant members rode in the 24th Annual Subaru Elephant Rock to raise awareness for organ and tissue and to celebrate the lives saved through transplantation. Eight transplant recipients and six living organ donors participated to prove it’s possible to lead a healthy, active lifestyle after transplant! Watch the video.

Among the recipients, six-year-old liver recipient Vienna Danna raced in the Shimano Youth Series and WON. Vienna was also one of the team’s top fundraisers, raising more than $1,700 for the American Transplant Foundation. The Lieutenant Governor of Colorado and Team Transplant member Joe Garcia spoke to the crowd about the importance of organ and tissue donation and presented Vienna with a Team Transplant Champion jersey for her accomplishment.

Team Transplant had riders participating in all the five courses, riding between seven and 100 miles. A sub team, the “Organ Grinders,” also represented Team Transplant in the 24 Hours of ERock mountain bike race June 3-4th. Thanks to sponsors and participants, this event raised more than $60,000 to support the American Transplant Foundation.

Team Transplant gear is available for purchase in our Shop.

Steve Farber’s Seventh Transplant Anniversary Dinner

Posted on 11. May, 2011 in Events, Past Events, Photos

Family and close friends of Steve Farber, the founder and chairman of the board of the American Transplant Foundation, gathered together on May 10th to celebrate the seventh anniversary of Steve and his son Gregg’s kidney transplant. Gregg Farber, who lives in New York and could not be there, sent a special message to his father which was read aloud by his brother Brent. Messages from several board members who couldn’t attend were also read aloud.

Special thanks to Shanahan’s Steakhouse for hosting and underwriting this memorable event and to the individuals who made contributions to the Foundation in Steve’s honor.

Send Steve and Gregg your wishes.
