Special guests at the event included:

  • Pat Hamill – Chairman and CEO, Oakwood Homes LLC. Mr. Hamill is the owner of historic Harman Hall where the meeting took place. Check out the event photos below to see some of the outstanding work Mr. Hamill did to modernize this historic building! (Note: features of the building are controlled wirelessly by iPad!)

To kick off National Donate Life Month (April), on April 1st, Transplant Leadership Council (TLC) member Jessica Smith hosted Bowling For Life at Celebrity Lanes in Centennial, Colorado.

Jessica, a living donor who donated half of her liver to her father last year, raised over $2,000 for the Patient Assistance Program. Every dollar will provide direct support to help living donors give the gift of life or help transplant recipients afford their anti-rejection medications.

Guests at the event enjoyed awesome prize drawings, great company and, of course, bowling! Check out the pictures below.

TLC Holiday Event

Group photo with Founding Members of the TLC (Transplant Leadership Council)

On Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 Founding Members of the TLC (Transplant Leadership Council) met at Founding Co-Chair Brad Farber’s house for a holiday meeting and social. 16 people were in attendance.

The group took the opportunity to celebrate how far TLC has come in such a short period of time, reflecting on the number of patient’s lives TLC will impact with grants awarded through the Patient Assistance Program.

The most exciting piece of news was the announcement of a challenge grant awarded by The Monroe Group that will match funds raised by the first fifty TLC members, up to $500 per member. This means that each TLC member will be able to help at least two patients in need of emergency financial assistance. TLC helps patients by eliminating financial barriers for those who wish to become living organ donors and helping transplant recipients afford anti-rejection medications.

TLC’s first big, public event will be on February 25th in Denver. Save the date to have some fun while helping save lives!

The Transplant Leadership Council (TLC) young professionals group gathered on August 10th for its first Founding Members Reception. The event was hosted by American Transplant Foundation’s founder Steve Farber and his wife, Cindy, at their beautiful Denver residence. The founding members took the opportunity to network, discuss plans to meet their goals, and celebrate the Council’s early successes in raising money to directly aid transplant patients in need. (100% of the Council’s funds raised go to grants for American Transplant Foundation’s Patient Assistance Program.)

Founding Co-Chairs Brad Farber and Susan Fakharzadeh and Volunteer Committee Chairs Matt Weiss and Jeanni Barnthouse all spoke. Steve Farber gave the opening remarks.

Since the Transplant Leadership Council’s Kickoff at the Jet Hotel in late June, under Brad and Susan’s energetic leadership, the group has grown to 27 Founding Members.  TLC is a unique young professionals organization in which Members review all grant applications and decide exactly how their financial gifts are used to directly aid transplant patients. American Transplant Foundation is thrilled to have these talented people dedicated to supporting our lifesaving mission!

One worry, lifted

Posted on 27. Jul, 2011 in Connections: A Blog about Life!, Transplant Leadership Council

When you make a donation in honor or in memory of friends and loved ones, your money goes directly to transplant patients in order to help them with medical expenses and transplant-related costs. Through the Patient Assistance Program, the American Transplant Foundation is giving hope to transplant patients in need.

We recently received the following messages from two individuals who were involved in Patient Assistance Grants made this year. We’d like to share them with you so that you can see the impact your donations have on patients’ lives.

From the wife of a transplant recipient:

“Thank you for your support.  You kindness will never be forgotten…Foundations like yours and people like you serve as a beacon of light in times of darkness for those like us who truly need help.”

-MH, June 5, 2011

From a social worker assisting a kidney recipient:

“I can’t thank the American Transplant Foundation enough for their recent assistance.  As a social worker, I have many different resources to pull from when a patient has a crisis and my job is to utilize those resources and work with the patient to come up with a plan to solve whatever problem has arisen.  However, recently I had a patient that was not eligible for any of the programs that I usually turn to and was very close to losing his kidney transplant.
