Team Transplant After Party

Posted on 15. Jun, 2011 in Events, Past Events, Photos, Team Transplant

On June 9th, Team Transplant’s members gathered at TriBella with their families and friends for the team after party to celebrate the success of Team Transplant 2011. We drew the winners of Team Transplant’s 35 raffle prizes, recognized the “Team Transplant Champions” (team members who raised $1,000 or more), and awarded the top three fundraisers with valuable prizes at this event.

Special thanks to this year’s top three fundraisers:

  • Brian Cerise, living kidney donor – $3,908 raised*
  • Stanton Dodge – $2,650 raised*
  • Eric Lang, living kidney donor – $2,400 raised*

*Total raised by June 5, 2011

Thank you to team sponsors TriBella and Noodles and Company for hosting the party and providing delicious food.

Team Transplant Rides the 2011 Subaru Elephant Rock

Posted on 06. Jun, 2011 in Events, Past Events, Photos, Team Transplant

We had a fantastic time on Sunday, June 5th as 101 Team Transplant members rode in the 24th Annual Subaru Elephant Rock to raise awareness for organ and tissue and to celebrate the lives saved through transplantation. Eight transplant recipients and six living organ donors participated to prove it’s possible to lead a healthy, active lifestyle after transplant! Watch the video.

Among the recipients, six-year-old liver recipient Vienna Danna raced in the Shimano Youth Series and WON. Vienna was also one of the team’s top fundraisers, raising more than $1,700 for the American Transplant Foundation. The Lieutenant Governor of Colorado and Team Transplant member Joe Garcia spoke to the crowd about the importance of organ and tissue donation and presented Vienna with a Team Transplant Champion jersey for her accomplishment.

Team Transplant had riders participating in all the five courses, riding between seven and 100 miles. A sub team, the “Organ Grinders,” also represented Team Transplant in the 24 Hours of ERock mountain bike race June 3-4th. Thanks to sponsors and participants, this event raised more than $60,000 to support the American Transplant Foundation.

Team Transplant gear is available for purchase in our Shop.

6 Minutes

Posted on 03. May, 2011 in Team Transplant

The team's spiffy new site makes registering quick and easy!

There are many things that can be done in 6 minutes. You can write a thank you note. You can surf Facebook. You can read a news article. Some people can run a mile (not me, trust me!). You can take a walk. You can call a friend. You can save a life!

I’ll admit it– I’m a terrible procrastinator. Well, I can be. And I have been procrastinating on one thing that is very important to me: registering my team for Team Transplant! Here I am extolling the virtues to all of you about registering early, recruiting members, and I haven’t even done it myself. Yes, I’ve been terribly busy. I’ve been running a mile a minute for about a month now. But I sat down and decided to do it, and it took me… yes, you guessed it… six minutes. Less, in fact.

Take six minutes and register for Team Transplant. I’ve registered under Team Leadership Council (more…)

April is Donate Life Month

Posted on 27. Apr, 2011 in Team Transplant

Hello, my Team Transplant Friends!

Yes, I realize that it is April 27th, so perhaps I’m a little late in the game (okay, a LOT late in the game) to be waxing poetic about the month of April, but we’ve got 3 days left and it’s still Donate Life Month. What better time to reach out to your supporters, your friends, your family and colleagues, and remind them about why you ride each year on Team Transplant?

Donate Life Month is a great way to remind people about the power of transplant. As a marketing geek, I know that you usually have to put something in front of your average viewer seven times for it to sink in. Think Donate Life. Think Connecting People to Life. Think of the license plate. The billboards. The opportunities to register as a donor. Living donation, and living donors! Consider your email as one of those vehicles to helpĀ those around you to realize, remember, and decide to take action to support this great cause. (more…)

Welcome to 2011, Team Transplant!

Posted on 13. Apr, 2011 in Team Transplant

Hello Team Transplant Riders and Welcome to 2011!

It feels like it’s been a long and dreary winter, and as I sit here and listen to the rain fall outside, I find myself still hoping for spring. BUT… it’s great to be back and connecting with all of you, and looking forward to, once again, another great year for Team Transplant at Subaru Elephant Rock.

First and foremost… April is NATIONAL DONATE LIFE month. Now come on, what better time to sign up and start telling your friends and family about this great organization that you will be supporting this spring?

Now… the other thing on my mind in April is that ugly date looming at the end of this week… April 15th. I don’t think I’ve ever dreaded a Friday so much. Yes, I owe Uncle Sam a hefty little check, and I’m dreading the writing of it and sending it off for it’s postmark before midnight on Friday. But, as I think of our civic duty and the inevitability of taxes, another vision of Uncle Sam comes to mind that I hope may inspire you…

I WANT YOU TO JOIN TEAM TRANSPLANT!

Yes folks, I’m already starting in with my demanding ways and telling you what to do, on my very first blog post. But we have a lot of riders to gain between now and June 5th, and we won’t be able to do it without you! (more…)
