Message from Heidi Heltzel

Heidi HeltzelThe story of Steve Farber has personally touched the lives of many people, including mine.   Unfortunately, his traumatic search for an organ to save his life is the same experience that tens of thousands of Americans endure everyday, and hundreds of thousands endure world-wide.

Together, we developed the American Transplant Foundation, to put an end to often futile searching and endless waiting. We take a broad approach; we don't focus on specific organs, and our core mission includes, but goes far beyond, donor awareness.

We are collaborating with other organ donation groups. We're also working towards better public policy and increased funding for research and science, in addition to raising awareness. While each of these objectives is helpful on its own, we choose to pursue all of them, because they are all essential to eliminating the growing gap between organ supply and demand.

Our objective to eliminate organ donor waiting lists is a significant challenge that will require a great deal of hard work. Thank you to our Board, financial contributors, volunteers and partner organizations. Your continued support will empower the American Transplant Foundation to fulfill its mission to close the gap between organ demand and supply, ultimately improving life for those in need of organ transplants across the nation.

Warm Regards,

Heidi Heltzel, Executive Director
