2008 CJ Spiegel Memorial Golf Tournament

The American Transplant Foundation was chosen as the beneficiary for the fourth annual CJ Spiegel Memorial Golf Tournament at the Cotton Ranch Golf Course in Gypsum, Colorado. On Friday, August 22nd, 144 golfers came together to play shotgun scramble in memory of CJ Spiegel, a young hero who gave others the gift of life. CJ’s parents sponsor this golf tournament each August to promote donor awareness throughout the mountain communities and to honor the life of their little hero.

This year, two local families joined the Spiegels in remembering their sons’ lives. One family remembered their son by passing out Mountain Dew, their son’s favorite addiction, while the other family gave away shirts and leis in remembrance of their son who loved Hawaii and surfing. Bonfils Colorado Marrow Donor Program was also present, encouraging golfers to join the Marrow Donor Registry to help patients in need of bone marrow transplants due to life-threatening blood diseases. After the golfing, there was live music, food, dancing, and swimming. Among this year’s winners was the Foundation’s own Heidi Heltzel who won Women’s Closest to the Pin!

Thank you to the sponsors and volunteers who helped make this a fun and successful event!
