Inaugural Team Transplant Cycles the Elephant Rock Ride

On Sunday, June 7th, 182 members of Team Transplant, the American Transplant Foundation’s inaugural charity cycling team, cycled the 2009 Subaru Elephant Rock Ride in Castle Rock, Colorado to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. Team Transplant was the largest team at Elephant Rock, collectively cycling over 9,300 miles and raising more than $35,000 to support organ and tissue donation! Thirteen transplant recipients and six living organ donors participated on the team to prove that it’s possible to lead a healthy, active lifestyle even after receiving or giving the Gift of Life.

After finishing their 100, 62, 32, 25, or seven mile course, Team Transplant members were invited back to the team tent where volunteers treated them to smoothies, milkshakes and massages. Volunteers also staffed an informational table at the tent to inform the 7,000 other Elephant Rock riders and their families about the importance of organ and tissue donation.

Thank you to our 182 team members and dozens of volunteers for making this inaugural event such a success!
