The American Transplant Foundation partnered with Donate Life Colorado to exhibit at the 2011 American Diabetes Association EXPO on Saturday, March 5th in Denver, Colorado. Volunteers and staff were there to answer questions about organ and tissue donation, encourage attendees to register as donors, and inform the public about diabetes and its link to transplant. More than 25 million people in the United States–over eight percent of the population–have diabetes. Diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney failure and therefore kidney transplantation. This year’s EXPO was the largest ever held with more than 8,200 participants. And thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, a record number of attendees registered to become organ and tissue donors!
