How to Protect Yourself and Others from COVID-19

Clean Hands Often

WASH YOUR HANDS with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in public places or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

USE HAND SANITIZER with at least 60% alcohol, if hand washing is not available.

AVOID touching eyes, nose, and mouth.

Avoid Close Contact

KEEP DISTANCE between yourself and people who are sick (the virus can travel about 6 ft).

TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS who have suppressed immune systems sometimes have more severe infections from viruses, although there is no specific information on whether COVID-19 will be more severe in transplant recipients.

Protect Others

SYMPTOMS include fever, cough, shortness of breath, other flu-like symptoms, and some transplant recipients may develop pneumonia. If you have any of these, call your doctor immediately.

STAY HOME if you are sick, except to receive medical care. Avoid contact with others and public areas. Also, wear a facemask if around other people while sick.

Clean and Disinfect

FREQUENTLY TOUCHED SURFACES including tables, doorknobs, light switches, phones, etc. should be cleaned daily with disinfectant wipes or other CDC approved disinfectants.

CLEAN DIRTY SURFACES with detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
