Dr. Richard Nicholas Formica earned his B.A at Boston University in 1989 and earned his MD at Boston University School of Medicine in 1993. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1996 and Board certified in Nephrology in 1999.

Dr. Formica is the Director of Transplant Medicine and Surgery at Yale University. He also serves as the director of Outpatient Transplantation Service, the Medical Director of Adult and Pediatric Kidney Transplantation, and the Medical Director of Pancreas Transplantation at the Yale-New Haven Hospital.  His specialties include evaluation for kidney donation, evaluation for renal transplant, pre- and post-transplant care, and renal consultation for solid organ and bone marrow transplant patients.
