Organ Donation Clarification Act of 2020

Last year, the Organ Donation Clarification Act was proposed. This act aims to solve the kidney wait list crisis by removing barriers which donors face under current laws and by creating new paths for increasing donation. This year, on July 27th, Congressman Matt Cartwright will reintroduce this act to Congress in hopes of helping those in need of transplants across the country.

The Organ Donor Clarification Act would:

  1. Clarify that certain reimbursements are not valuable consideration but are reimbursements for expenses a donor incurs
  2. Allow government-run pilot programs to test the effect of providing non-cash benefits to promote organ donation

We encourage our lovely foundation members to share this act with your local Congress members, family, and friends. By increasing support for the Organ Donor Clarification Act, the chances of helping patients in need of transplants across the country will greatly improve.

Annual American Transplant Foundation Holiday Party!

Thank you to all who joined us at our
Annual Holiday Party!

We are honored that we were joined by friends, family, living donors, transplant recipients, volunteers, Board Members, and supporters at our annual Holiday Party! This evening was filled with laughs, lots of food, and giving back.

As always, we celebrated all of the lives saved through transplantation, and looked to the future as we prepare to save even more lives in 2020

All of our honored guests had a chance to adopt Patient Assistance Grant Recipients at our Tree of Life! Because of their help, almost all of our Patient Assistance Grant Recipients will be receiving a special gift in the mail this holiday season.

We were also joined by Denver Poet, Devan Kingsford and Tarot Card Reader, Diana Fox who allowed our guests to have some more fun. Delicious appetizers were provided by Private Chef, Steve Grindley.

We would like to thank all of our guests, volunteers, Devan, Diana, and Chef Steve for making this such a fun and eventful evening!

A special 'THANK YOU' goes out to our wonderful hosts, Dr. Mike Shomaker and Leslie Shomaker. These two have opened their home to American Transplant Foundation year after year to support the most vulnerable living organ donors and transplant recipients.

2019 was quite a year! We're looking forward to what the future holds in 2020.
