” Dialysis is my new open door to life for now.  I’m in good spirits, and I’m just waiting for the doors to open to receive a kidney.

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Charles, and I am asking for your help to save my life. I am currently on the kidney transplant list in South Carolina.

I am a proud veteran, and I now spend much of my time enjoying my favorite things: fishing, relaxing, and being with my loved ones. My family means everything to me, and I cherish the time I get to spend with them. Even through the challenges of kidney failure and dialysis, I try to keep a positive outlook and stay strong in faith. I believe that every day is a blessing, and I am grateful for each moment I get with my family.

I live with kidney failure as a result of diabetes, and I have been waiting for a kidney transplant for almost two years. Dialysis has become a part of my daily routine, keeping me alive but limiting my independence. While I remain in good spirits, dialysis is not a cure, and I long for the chance to return to a fuller, more active life. My greatest hope is to receive a transplant so that I can continue to share many more years with my family and enjoy the freedom to travel and live life to the fullest.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that can donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with type O blood. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to get back to traveling and living life to the fullest after a kidney transplant. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential, and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Charles
