" I want to live to spend time with my 5 grandchildren who are still young. Teaching is my passion. I want to continue to teach."

cynthia— POtential liver Transplant Recipient

My name is Cynthia, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I was diagnosed with PBC/Primary Biliary Cholangitis in 2000. I was symptom free until 2016. All my life I have been healthy, prescription free, no surgeries and no other illnesses. I attribute it all to my lifestyle of eating well, not eating out or having fast foods. I have been on the transplant list for just over 4 years.

I am a retired teacher. I taught high school Language Arts with the Dept. of Education in Hawaii on the Island of Oahu.  After coming back to the contiguous US. I bought a home in Florida to be close to my two daughters and began the evaluation process again with Mayo in Jacksonville FL. I later moved up to Maine. In Maine I taught Global Studies at a small private college. That is when my symptoms started in 2016…after being symptom free for 16 years when I was diagnosed with PBC/Primary Biliary Cholangitis.

My doctors always said I need a living donor. I am very independent and do everything on my own. I do know I am declining. I want to live to spend time with my 5 grandchildren who are still young. Teaching is my passion. I want to continue to teach.

I know I could add other accomplishments and future goals and this could get quite lengthy…My goal is to live, I want to live!

I am seeking a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family available to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. No waiting and wondering while my body continues to weaken.

Thank you for saving my life.

Cynthia
