I hope for a life where I can enjoy my family and friends and help to mentor others about the benefits of a transplant. It will be a joy to watch my grand daughter grow up!

In Need of a Kidney

Edward

I am married to my wife Patti who is my best friend. I have a beautiful daughter Jennie and a granddaughter Saavy who is a year and a half. My hobbies have been exercise, biking, and kayaking before my health declined. I have always been a health and fitness buff so kidney disease has really changed my life.

I am getting ready to have to go on dialysis in the next few months. I have stage 5 Chronic Kidney disease. I am exhausted all the time and have a hard time getting through the day. I still try to eat healthy and get to the gym to keep fit enough for a kidney transplant. I have had many friends and family get tested and evaluated for being a donor but with no success. Many fall out for various health reasons. Some do not have the correct blood type or have health issues so they can’t apply.

I would really like to get back to doing all the things I used to be able to do and enjoy life again. Your selfless act would bring so much joy.

  • Step 1

Please contact my transplant coordinator below if you would like to learn more or be tested to become my donor. You will need my name: Edward R.

    Transplant Coordinator: 617-726-2000

I have been waiting for a kidney transplant for one year. A deceased kidney donor has 5-7 years of waiting on a list. My doctor told me my best option is to find a living donor. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type B or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what my future will bring and trying to stay positive as I wait. I hope to watch my granddaughter grow up. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you. In addition, the American Transplant Foundation has financial assistance available to cover any lost wages while you donate for those who are eligible after donation.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,  Edward
