“If I am fortunate enough to receive a new kidney, I would like to dedicate my life to helping quadriplegic patients and helping others in need. I would also like to be there for my two grandbabies.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Jane, and I am asking for your help to save my life. I am 69 years old and on the kidney transplant list in Pennsylvania.

I am blessed with one daughter and two young grandchildren who are the joy of my life. For many years, I cared for my husband, who was a quadriplegic, and though it was difficult, it was also one of my greatest blessings. He gave me our daughter and taught me the importance of selfless love and perseverance. Now, my greatest joy is spending time with my grandchildren, sharing stories, and passing down lessons from our family’s journey.

I am living with end-stage renal disease and currently do peritoneal dialysis every day. The treatments leave me without energy and unable to enjoy the simple things, like playing with my grandchildren or being fully present for my daughter. I want to be here for my family, to share our history with my grandchildren, and to dedicate the years ahead to helping others with disabilities, just as I helped my husband throughout his life.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers as I have no immediate family that can donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with a type O+ blood donor. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue to be there with my daughter and to be involved with my community. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential, and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Jane
