“I look forward to spending time with my friends, family, husband, and dog. I see beauty in everything.”
In Need of a Liver Donor
My husband and I have a dog named Maxwell. We all like to go to Erie, Pennsylvania together. I am also close with a group of my cousins, and we get together every couple of months to catch up. I live a simple life, and I am grateful for all that I have.
I have had an autoimmune disease for 26 years, which caused me to lose function of my liver. I have always listened to my doctors and tried to stay as healthy as possible. Without a functioning liver, I feel like I’m not doing the things I used to enjoy before, and that I’m just going through the motions of life. I would love to get back to doing what I love.
I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type B or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.
The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue being able to spend time with my family. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.
Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you. In addition, the American Transplant Foundation has financial assistance available to cover any lost wages while you donate for those who are eligible after donation.
Thank you for considering saving my life.
With deep gratitude, Janet
