In Need of a Liver Donor

My name is Kathie, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I’m an animal lover and currently care for five cats—three indoor and two outdoor strays. I’m very close with my brothers and youngest sister, and I’ve helped raise my nephew, Levi, who will be starting at the University of Pittsburgh this fall to study engineering. Once a month, I get together with friends to play Bunco, a tradition I really enjoy.

Lately, my health has been steadily declining, and my symptoms are becoming more severe. I deal with constant nausea, muscle weakness and spasms, joint pain, a swollen abdomen, water retention, jaundice, and I’m always cold. These symptoms are affecting every part of my daily life.

I currently work remotely and am no longer able to drive. My weekdays consist of working, bathing, and resting. On Saturday mornings, I get blood work done and go to the grocery store. The rest of the weekend, I usually spend sleeping or watching movies. When the weather allows, I try to take a short walk.

I don’t want to get sicker. I’ve already had to cancel trips and cut back on travel. I still dream of completing my travel bucket list, visiting more states and exploring more of Europe. More than anything, I want to be here to see Levi graduate from college and to outlive my youngest cat, Penny, who’s just 10 years old.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with Type O+ blood type.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to be able to travel again and spend more meaningful time with the people I love. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.
