" I hope to be able to have better quality of life so that I can help people in a positive way as long as I'm on this earth"

kavi— POtential liver Transplant Recipient

My name is Kavi, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am 41 years old and on the liver transplant list at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA.

I was born and raised in Braintree, MA and like the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. One of my favorite things to do is volunteer and create a positive impact on someone’s life. When the opportunity allows, I also like to travel. I am a completely substance free individual and I hope to continue to make a positive impact on anyone's life, be it a stranger, colleague, friend, or family, or anyone from my social groups given the time I have left on this earth.

I was diagnosed with a rare liver disease as an infant and have been living with it for my entire life. I have been waiting for a transplant for over 2.5 years and I am currently in the hospital suffering from an infection. My cousin tried to be a match but his liver was the wrong size, and all other family and friends have been vetted out due to various health conditions. Though I never initially asked for help, I was surprised that so many people were willing to support me without myself or my wife reaching out.

I am looking for a living donor beween the ages of 18-60 that can abstain from substance use and lives in the greater Boston area. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that are a match. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. No waiting and wondering while my body continues to weaken. I am compatible with any Type B or Type O blood type.

The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box below. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance. Please review existing Living Donor Benefits to determine which apply to you. If you are not eligible for a tax credit, I can reimburse for donation related expenses as permissible by law. In addition, the American Transplant Foundation has financial assistance available to cover any lost wages while you donate for those who are eligible after donation.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,
Kavi
