“Donating an organ is the most selfless, generous and loving thing anyone could ever do. I would be forever grateful to anyone who even be willing to be screened.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Kevin, and I am asking for your help to save my life. I am in need of a kidney donation and  transplant list in Oregon.

My wife and I have lived a very full and meaningful life. We’ve been married for 41 years. We’ve had the privilege of sharing in volunteer missionary work around the globe for years at a time. Currently, we live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and enjoy camping and fishing in the local area. We love going to estate sales every week and find great items that we clean up and resell as a side line. Up until recently we have been going to Mexico every year for our anniversary but with the start of dialysis that’s not on option for now. We are fortunate to live not too far away from the Pacific Oceans. So periodically we’ll take a few days and spend time over on the coast.

I have been on the transplant list for over a year. I have Polycystic Kidney Disease, an inherited kidney condition where my kidney have over come with cysts. Due to my condition running in my family, none of them could qualify to donate. I am now on dialysis and have begun to adjust to my nightly treatments, but I miss being able to travel with my wife to see friends and family.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type B or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds and knowing my condition is worsening. I hope to be able to get back to traveling across the world with my wonderful wife. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Kevin
