“I feel too young to have to give up life so soon.  My grandchildren, especially my grandson would be devastated to loose me. We have a very strong special bond.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Leon, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am on the Kidney Transplant list in Los Angeles, California and have been for a year.

My family is my biggest priority. I have been married for 52 years to my loving wife and together we have two children and four grandchildren. I love being able to spend time with my three granddaughters and my grandson. Twice a week I watch one of my granddaughters play softball and care for her brother, my one grandson. I see my other granddaughters less often since the drive up to San Diego has become difficult due to my health condition. I would love to feel better so I could see them more often.

I have a Glomerular Filtration Rate of 22.  My doctors told me that my best chance of non-rejection and living another 10-20 years is through a donation from a living donor. My family is unable to donate due to their health issues, but I am willing to travel anywhere to save my life.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with Type B+ blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to be able to watch my grandchildren grow up and start lives of their own. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Leon
