“Your contribution would help to extend my life so I can spend as much time with my wife as possible and hopefully see my children and grandchildren grow to be the adults that I know they will be.”

In Need of a Liver Donor

My name is Michael, and I’m in need of a liver donor

I’m holding steady, but my liver function is gradually declining, and I’m hoping to find a donor before my condition becomes urgent. The testing required for transplant approval can take time, and I’ve already had two generous people step forward, though compatibility issues prevented them from donating. My hospital doesn’t allow living donors over the age of 53, which has limited options, as many friends and family are older.

I’m a husband, father of two adult daughters, and proud grandfather to eight. I also have an older brother, sister, two nephews, and a niece. For the past seven years, I’ve been an umpire for girls’ fastpitch softball, which I love, and I enjoy kayak fishing in my free time. My greatest hope is to spend more time with my grandkids, share in their activities, and be more active around the house so my wife doesn’t have to carry so much of the load. She has been incredible through all of this, and I’d love to ease the burden on her.

  • Step 1

Please contact Jeneen Goodman at 215-662-6200 to find out if you are eligible to donate.  You will need my name: Michael Sykes

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type B or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue a lifetime of kayak fishing and watching my grandkids grow up. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Michael
