My name is Michael, and I am asking for your help to save my life.
I am in end-stage liver disease and need a liver transplant to survive.
I am a former marine who served during 9/11. I am the God Parent to my cousin's daughters which brought me so much joy and fulfillment I never dreamed I could have.
I have to depend on my cousin and her family for everything and I’ve always been so independent. I would do anything in the world to find a donor and get new life so that I can do the things we planned to do. We never got to go to Iceland or anywhere. We have only had one Christmas together as a family and I want more. I want to see my God daughters graduate, go to prom, achieve their dreams and show them the world. I would be forever grateful to be given the gift of life all over again for the first time since birth, and I would not take it for granted.
None of my friends or family is able to donate due to a variety of underlying health factors. My doctor says the likelihood of me dying unless I find a living organ donor are high.
Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. No waiting and wondering while my body continues to weaken. More so, this surgery is covered for both the donor and the recipient under my health insurance!
If you have any questions or concerns about the living donation process in any aspect, please sign up for the American Transplant Foundation's Potential Living Donor Database and we can provide you with any resources you may need, including speaking with a living organ donor directly.
I would appreciate you sharing this information with anyone that you know who might be interested or a match.
Thank you so much for your consideration!
Michael
