In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Thao, and I am asking for your help to save my life. I am 35 years old and currently on the kidney transplant list in Michigan.

I am a daughter, wife, and friend to many. In 2024, I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life. Together, we hope to start a family one day. I love to crochet, work in my garden, and visit my friends and family. However, that has become difficult given my health condition. In the future, I hope to become a nurse. I would love to work in a hospital and help people going through situations like myself, since I find great joy in helping people.

I currently have Stage V kidney failure. Fortunately, I am stable on dialysis and there are no other problems caused by my kidney failure. My doctors said that my best chance at longevity with my new kidney would be through a living donor. In addition, it would potentially shorten the waiting time for my transplant. Unfortunately, none of my family or friends are a match for me, that is why I need your help.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that can donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with Type O+ blood. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. One day, I hope to start a family of my own with my husband and I want to be able to see my children grow up. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential, and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Thao
