“I dream about the day when I’m not bedridden. Where I can go to the pool, cook a nice meal for my family, go dancing and travel! I worked at Delta years ago and my daughter definitely got the travel bug and dance moves from me. My daughter believes we will be in Sicily this summer and who knows maybe I could even find love again!”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Cheryl, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am 65 years old and on the kidney transplant list in Weston, Fl

I am looking for a hero to help me get back to the dance floor. As a proud Italian mom, my life is usually filled with the smell of my homemade eggplant parm and the sound of Motown and disco. Even on my toughest days with kidney disease, I try to keep a smile on my face and joy in my heart for my friends and church community.

I’ve survived a lot, including leaving a toxic marriage years ago to ensure my only daughter grew up safe. She is my world. She’s now a DJ performing all over the globe, and my biggest dream is to regain my health so I can travel to Sicily with her (where our family is from) and be right by her side, dancing at her shows.

I am at stage 5 kidney failure. I have no energy, no appetite and I am missing so many life moments with my daughter. I have to go to dialysis 3 times a week and I’m very sleepy. I wish I felt better so I could travel with her and go dancing. She’s my only daughter. My life now is difficult. I feel so sad and depressed. It feels like life is going by and there’s so many things I wish I had the chance to do if I felt better. My only daughter takes care of me. She left her job to care full time and I want her to live her life. I am hoping I can get a transplant soon.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers as I have no immediate family that can donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A, B, AB, and O blood type.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue to be there with my daughter and to be involved with my community. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential, and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Cheryl
