In Need of a Liver Donor

My name is Cynthia, and I am asking for your help to save my life. I am 55 years old and on the liver transplant list in Pittsburgh, PA.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years, but we have been together for 38 years. He is my rock and the love of my life. We love photography and used to own a photography business, which I would love to start up again. We have 2 children, aged 27 and 25 years old, and enjoy doing things as a family such as glow splatter painting, movies, and traveling. I also love dogs and can’t live without a furry companion. I just lost my service dog, Molly, in October, and am hoping to get another service dog after my transplant, though nothing will ever replace my Molly.

After brain surgery, I had meningitis and had to take antibiotics, which impaired my liver’s ability to function properly. As a result, toxins are not getting cleared out of my body, and I am suffering from fluid retention. This has caused memory loss/confusion and difficulty breathing. I currently attend physical therapy to try and keep my body going, but I am constantly exhausted and my medications leave me feeling unwell.

I am looking for a liver donor so that I can begin to enjoy life and everyday things again. My hopes and dreams after the transplant are to travel with my husband and do a vow renewal ceremony. I also look forward to seeing my children get married someday and having children. Moreover, I plan to travel to Greece and meet my birth family once I am better. I was adopted and, while I met my biological mom, I haven’t met anyone else and would love to.

  • Step 1

Please contact my Transplant Center to see if you are eligible to donate at 877-640-6746. You will need my name: Cynthia Becvar

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A or O blood type.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue a lifetime of spending time with my husband and children, traveling, and enjoying everything life has to offer to me. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Cynthia
