“I’m grateful to be alive; however, I am not functioning at my full potential. A living kidney donation offers me a better chance at leading a longer, healthier, and more normal life.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Elizabeth, and I am urgently in need of a living kidney donor. I am fortunate to have a supportive family which includes my husband, our son, and our two beloved cats. Before my health began to decline, I found great joy in volunteering with various charitable organizations, staying active with Zumba classes, and exploring new recipes in the kitchen. These activities were a vital part of my life and brought me immense fulfillment. Now, my focus has shifted significantly due to my battle with Stage 5 Kidney Disease. Despite the challenges I face, I remain grateful for the life I have and the support from those around me.

Unfortunately, my condition has deteriorated to the point where only a kidney transplant can offer me the hope of a longer, healthier life. My kidneys are functioning at just 10%, and I am experiencing severe fatigue and anemia that requires monthly infusions. The progression of my kidney disease was hastened by COVID-19, which significantly impacted my already fragile kidney function. I have been actively seeking a living kidney donor through seminars, flyers, and community outreach, and I remain hopeful that a donor will come forward. My dream is to regain my health so that I can return to my passions, including volunteering for hospice patient care and promoting animal welfare.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with Type O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue a lifetime of trying new recipes, volunteering in my community, and spending time with my family. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Elizabeth
