“I am, and will continue to be, praying for my future kidney donor—not only that a match is found but that God blesses them abundantly for their incredible willingness to make such a life-saving gift.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

I’m Eric, 34 years old, married, and a father to four boys, ages 6, 4, 2, and 6 months. We live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and we love spending time outdoors—camping, playing sports, boating, hiking, gardening, and just about anything else that lets us be outside. When I’m not working on projects around the house, I’m often planning the next one. And when we’re stuck inside, I enjoy learning new recipes, reading, or wrestling with the boys.

I have degrees in nursing and business and have worked in a range of fields—wildland firefighting, cooking, contracting, and electrical work. Right now, I work part-time at UPS while I wait for a kidney transplant. I’ve been on in-clinic hemodialysis for almost a year due to end-stage kidney failure. Dialysis has been challenging; my body doesn’t tolerate it well, and I struggle to keep my labs stable despite following my team’s advice closely.

One of my biggest goals is to finish remodeling our camper so we can take a long road trip to the redwoods, which our oldest son has been learning about in kindergarten. I also look forward to getting back the 15 hours a week I currently spend on dialysis, which will allow me to work full-time again and give us more freedom to travel. Most of all, I can’t wait to have the energy to be active daily with my boys and, hopefully, to be there to see them all grow up and start families of their own.”

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to continue spending time outdoors and watching my boys grow up and being a part of all their milestones. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Eric
