“A kidney transplant would give me a second chance—not just to live but to pursue my dreams.”

In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Kevin, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am 21 years old and currently on the kidney transplant list in Tampa, FL. I live with my mom and our dog, Lady. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading books, and learning.

I’m hoping to start college soon, as I’ve always wanted to further my education and earn a Master’s in Business Administration. More importantly, my greatest passion is making a positive impact on the world. I want to help create a better future, one where generations to come have something beautiful to admire. I’ve been described as a humanitarian, and I truly want to use my life to make a difference. I also hope to travel the world and experience the diverse cultures and opportunities it has to offer.

I was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, a type of kidney disease, when I was just 1 ½ years old. As a child, I underwent five years of chemotherapy to help suppress my immune system so medications could manage my condition. Despite these treatments, my kidney function has continued to decline, and is now at just 9% of normal. A year ago, I was told my kidneys were failing, and I would need either dialysis or a transplant. Since then, I’ve done everything I can to preserve what little kidney function I have left, making adjustments to my diet and lifestyle. But time is running out, and not knowing where my life is headed has been the hardest part. While I continue to hold onto my hopes and dreams, my health has placed everything at a standstill.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to be able to pursue my dreams of furthering my education, traveling the world, and leaving a lasting impact. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Kevin
