In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Kris, and I am asking for your help to save my life. My current kidney is only at 15% and I do not have a second kidney. My numbers have remained stable for a few months but I understand that my time is limited.

I am actively involved in my religious community while embracing and respecting the choices of others. I am a retired flower designer who still provides bouquets for special occasions and special friends. I’d love to be a gym rat again and spend afternoons on the golf course.  I am an only child whose parents are deceased so it’s just my husband and me.

I have a dialysis port (PD port) which requires regular attention from the physician and given the precarious nature of my condition my days are filled with appointments and testing. It’s a full time job managing my healthcare and it leaves little room for actual enjoyment of life.

I am looking for a living donor because I want to live life to the fullest, help my friends and community, and enjoy the years I have left with my husband. The world is a wonderful place and because of caring for elderly parents for more than a decade, I’ve seen little of it. I want to travel. But more importantly, I want to stay involved in my community and be available to help people in need.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is the ups and downs of this process are stressful and alarming. I fear that my numbers will fall, my remaining kidney will fail, and I will be on full-time support. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Kris
