"The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is reassuring my son that it will all work out and that I am not going anywhere. "

MARK—  POtential kidney Transplant Recipient

My name is Mark, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am 47 years old living with IGA Nephology. I am currently in stage 5 end stage renal failure. I have a 16 year old son that depends on me daily as I am the only biological parent in his life.

I spend most of fall at my son's football games, as for years I assisted coaching. I plow snow for the highway during the winter. In the summer my wife and I love camping, riding the motorcycle, and sitting by an evening fire at night to relax after long days. I love gathering friends and family to celebrate over good food.

I work full time with the highway maintenance and used to be really active outside. I currently get tired easily, become very sore and always cold. Some day and nights are better than others, however lately I have more nausea, an issue keeping me from sleeping and eating some days.

My blood type is O so I can only use a person of the same blood type. Currently it would be 5 to 7 year wait with my stage 5 end stage renal failure, which I worry is too long. A living donor would be my best option to have a life with a little less of that worry.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is reassuring my son that it will all work out and that I am not going anywhere. I would like a potential donor to know that they are making my and my child's hopes a reality.

I look forward to just having the hope that I will be able to continue to do the things I love with my family.

Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. No waiting and wondering while my body continues to weaken.

Thank you for taking your time to read and understand my current life situation, and we would appreciate you considering donating or spreading the word.

Thank you so much for your consideration!

Mark
