In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Nina, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am 57, married, and we are just about to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary in April! I have a daughter who is in college. It took me 10 years to have her: she was an in vitro miracle when I was 36. She only weighed 4lbs 8 oz at birth! I need more time with her. There is so much more that I need to teach her! Outside of my daughter, I am a retired nurse, but I work part-time in retail. I love to cook, travel, and spend time with the 4 cats my partner and I have at home.

I have a genetic disease called Tuberous Sclerosis.  It was not diagnosed until I was 19. It is comprised of seizures and kidney disease, and many other symptoms. I have cysts (tubers) in the kidneys that have continued to grow, cutting the blood supply off in the kidney, decreasing the functioning. Now, I require a transplant. Right now, my life is filled with anxiety and stress. I am scared and don’t know how to think at this point. I have struggled to figure out how to advertise that I am in need of a kidney. My hope is that getting a living donor will allow me to be alive to see my daughter graduate, marry, and have children.

  • Step 1

To see if you are eligible to donate, please call my transplant center at 860-972-9953 or 860-545-6999

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to see all the milestones my daughter has left and be there with my family. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential, and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Nina
