In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Richard, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I am a devoted Christian, a husband, father, grandfather, and veteran. My faith has taught me to treat others with kindness, compassion, and respect, and I strive to live by those values every day. I love my family deeply, care for all animals, and do my best to help others whenever I can. I also believe in giving back, which is why I have registered to be an organ donor myself.

I am living with stage 5 kidney disease. Although I try to stay as healthy and active as possible, my kidneys are failing. I am now waiting for a surgeon to place my dialysis port so I can begin dialysis. This treatment will dramatically change my life and take precious time away from the people I love.

The hardest part of waiting for a transplant is living with the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring. Each day carries the fear that my health will decline further before a kidney becomes available. More than anything, I want the chance to spend more time with my wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends, making memories and continuing to live the life I cherish.

A living kidney transplant would give me hope for more time with the people I love and the opportunity to continue serving others with the life I’ve been blessed to live. I would be forever grateful for the extraordinary gift of a second chance.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to look forward to many many more years of a happy healthy life. I love my family, my friends, and I wish for the chance to prolong this life. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Richard
