In Need of a Kidney Donor

My name is Tammy, and I am asking for your help to save my life.

I’ve always loved creating. Painting pictures, making jewelry, and attending art classes bring me so much joy. I also enjoy having coffee or lunch with friends. While I’m more of an indoor person, I’ve always cherished the opportunity to travel and explore new places. My husband and I are both retired, and though we don’t have children, we had looked forward to spending our retirement years traveling together.

Unfortunately, I am now in the severest stage of kidney failure. I feel constantly drained, with little energy left to enjoy the things I once loved. My days revolve around dialysis: three hours in the morning, three more in the evening, and nine hours overnight. Because of this demanding schedule, we are no longer able to travel. My outings are limited to grocery runs and clinic visits. It’s hard not to feel trapped. Complicating things further, I have a blood disorder that requires chemotherapy before I can receive a kidney transplant. This is why I am in need of a living donor. If you are reading this and considering donating, please know how deeply grateful I would be. It takes a truly selfless and special person to offer such a gift. Even if we never meet, you will forever hold a large and cherished place in my heart. I would consider you not just a donor, but a special friend.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A or O blood type. Even if you do not have the same blood type, you can donate as part of a paired exchange program.

The most difficult part of waiting for a transplant is not knowing what the future holds. I hope to travel again, to simply jump in the car or catch a plane to visit loved ones, explore new places, and make new friends along the way. The first step is to contact my transplant center using the information in the box above. The entire process is strictly confidential and medical costs are covered by my insurance.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Tammy
