“I would be greatful beyond words that someone would do this for me. I believe I would have a new friend for life.”

In Need of a Liver Donor

My name is Tracy, and I have end-stage liver disease. Every day is a challenge as I navigate through constant tests, doctor appointments, and an array of medications. It’s complicated by the fact that I also have multiple sclerosis, so my doctors have to be very cautious with the treatments they prescribe. It’s not easy, but I’m doing everything I can to stay strong.

Two family members tried to help me by becoming donors, but sadly, they weren’t able to pass the necessary tests. Despite that, I’m blessed with a strong support system. My parents live close by, and they’ve been incredibly supportive throughout this journey. I also have two amazing sons and an 8-month-old grandson who brings so much joy to my life. Seeing him grow and imagining the future moments I want to share with him keeps me motivated.

I live with my boyfriend, who is my biggest support and best friend. He’s been with me every step of the way, taking me to my appointments and tests, always knowing exactly what I need. We used to love traveling, spending time at the beautiful Florida beaches, and working in the yard together, but because of my illness, I haven’t been able to enjoy those things like I used to. I miss the feeling of normalcy, of being able to take care of myself and do things for others.

What I look forward to the most is getting my life back — to feel like myself again. I dream of seeing my sons get married and being there as my grandson grows up. That’s what keeps me going, and I believe that with a liver transplant, those dreams can become my reality.

If you are eligible to donate contact Erin Schulz at Tampa General Hospital at 813-844-5586.

I am looking for a living donor. I am asking this of both friends and strangers, because I have no immediate family that is able to donate. Living donor transplants generally have better outcomes and can be arranged at a time convenient for both parties. I am compatible with any Type A or O.

The hardest part of waiting for a transplant is living with the uncertainty of what the future holds. The thought of my condition worsening before a transplant becomes available is always on my mind. More than anything, I hope to regain a sense of normalcy and enjoy a better quality of life.

Please review existing Living Donor Benefits/Rights to determine which apply to you.

Thank you for considering saving my life.

With deep gratitude,

Tracy
